roman gladiator history
what aspects of the roman character did the roman gladiator represent?

this is a question for a history assignment. Please help. thankyou soooo much if you do help, its much appreciated.

They’re all incorrect. The gladiator was a symbol of the Samnite warrior.

Samnium was one of the last Italian people to dispute the expansion of Rome upon the peninsula. In 321 BC the Samnites defeated and captured an entire Roman army at a mountain pass known as the Caudine Forks (through which later passed the Appian Way).

The Romans had the gladiators dress as Samnite warriors for nostalgia.
